Rosca de Reyes in Irving & North Texas

Rosca de Reyes is the ring-shaped bread of Día de Reyes — January 6, when the Magi are said to have reached the child. Mexican bakeries bake it for that window, not as everyday pan dulce.
At Conchitas in Irving, it is a seasonal question, not a year-round SKU. The usual season is late December through Día de Reyes (January 6). Families from across the DFW area ask the same thing each January.

What the bread is
A crown, not a bun
The loaf is an oval or ring, often topped with strips of sugar paste and candied fruit so it reads as a jewelled crown.
A figurine inside
A small niño Dios is baked into the bread. Whoever finds it in their slice traditionally hosts tamales on Día de la Candelaria, February 2.
A date on the calendar
Families share it on and around Día de Reyes. Bakeries sell it late December through Día de Reyes (January 6) — not in August, and not as a standing menu item.
Not pan dulce from the daily tray
Conchas, marranitos, and orejas are the everyday sweet case. Pan dulce in Irving covers those. Rosca is a once-a-year bread.

Rosca de Reyes is not listed on the current Conchitas menu. Ask at the Irving shop as Día de Reyes gets closer.
